COVID-19 cases continue to increase, infecting various parts of the world, including Indonesia. During the pandemic, almost every individual experienced challenges due to restrictions to prevent the virus from being transmitted. Currently, the confirmed positive cases continue to increase, and due to social gathering restrictions, this virus has had a profound impact on the way of life of the community, especially in the economic sector. In this situation, community activities continue as usual but follow health protocols to prevent the transmission and spread of the virus.
It is very much expected that the presence of a vaccine will create immunity, therefore stopping the virus from spreading. Indonesia presents vaccines in two ways, namely by producing and importing from abroad. However, humans have three types of immune systems from which the vaccines are inseparable, namely: natural (innate), artificial (adaptive), and passive immunity. The science of the immune system, called immunology, is the foundation of vaccination. It was first investigated by Louis Pasteur as proof of the germ theory of disease. Furthermore, Robert Koch proved the germ theory in 1891 and received the Nobel Prize in 1905 (discoverer of the Mycobacterium tuberculosis). While a pathogenic virus in humans that causes yellow fever was discovered by Walter Reed in 1901.
